Making your own homemade citrus all purpose cleaner is very easy and more than likely you have what you need already siting around your house.
What You’ll Need:
- Vinegar (I infused with Orange Peel & Lemon Peel for about 2 weeks before hand)
- Baking Soda or Borax
- Water
I like using citrus infused vinegar to make my own cleaners but you can use regular vinegar if you want it scentless. I find that adding in a little citrus gives the cleaner a little extra boost of cleaning power.
Method
If you’re using the infused vinegar you’re going to want to pour your vinegar through a strainer to remove the pulp and any seeds that might have gotten in. Mix 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup baking soda or 2 teaspoons Borax and 1/2 gallon water. Mix thoroughly. Pour into a spray bottle and clearly label it.
Label It
Label your fresh homemade citrus infused all-purpose cleaner with this adorable label. Download and Print Here (you’ll have to unzip the file). It’s best to use the Avery sticky labels to print. You’ll get a sheet of 10 2″ x 4″ labels just like this one you see below.

I use vinegar for cleaning..never thought to add some citrus flair! Thanks for sharing
My mom always added a few squirts of lemon juice to her vinegar water so I always do too- but never thought of infusing- lime would be nice!
I’m with you on the lime. I love the scent of limes, and we use so many when we cook. I always feel bad about just throwing away the rinds.
What a great idea- I have never thought of this! Going to try this. THank you!
wow – thank you – I am all about natural products!
I have all the ingredients to make this! Thanks for sharing.
This is a great and simple recipe for natural cleaners!!
I love this! I never thought of infusing the vinegar with actual citrus. I generally put in a few drops of essential oils when I make my cleaners. Thanks for sharing.
That looks really easy! I have never made a cleaner but if it is that easy maybe I will!
I love using natural cleaners but often don’t know where to start to make them myself. This looks very doable and probably costs less than OTC natural cleaners. Thanks!
Had never thought to infuse my vinegar with citrus – will definitely have to try that.
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
I love using citrus with vinegar. My favorite way is to put lemon juice in a bowl of water in the microwave. I turn it on for 3-4 minutes and then let it sit for another minute or two. Then it’s so easy to wipe out the microwave – no chemicals!
I NEED to try your trick
This sounds so simple! And I bet it is a great money saver. I need to try this.

I have been using homemade citrus acid cleaner for quite a while now, but I did not add baking soda or borax to it. Perhaps I should try it out! Thanks for providing a pretty label for it as well! I have included the link to it on my site, credits included. Hope you don’t mind!
